10/2/2019 Which Is Better For Mac Safari Or Chrome
It is obvious that Safari trails behind Chrome in more than a few ways. This can be attributed to the fact that it is better tailored to fit Mac OS than Windows. Yes, Chrome is the top notch web browser for Mac that what I recommend. There is no other browser as popular as Chrome in the web. Moreover, Safari is best browser for guys who are looking for a browser that will not eat up their macbook’s battery. Though, Safari seems to be laggy sometimes but.

I mostly use Safari, but I take vacations in Chrome. Some Safari plusses:. Feels like a proper Mac app. No redundant menus and all that like Chrome. Double tap to zoom is brilliant.
Likewise pinch to zoom. The back and forward gestures are fine, but I find them slower than Chrome's gestures. I use Command plus arrow keys, and that's essentially instantaneous. Info sync between OSX and iOS is really nice. ICloud tabs has improved a lot since its introduction. It used to take random amounts of time before iOS and OSX had matching tabs in iCloud tabs, but now it's basically instantaneous. Really good HTML and CSS support, sometimes better than Chrome (Safari handles background gradients much more nicely than Chrome for example).
Bookmarks and Reading List are good enough. EDIT: As others have pointed out, Safari is much kinder to the battery than Chrome. Surprised I forgot about that. Some Safari downsides:. Feels more unstable than Chrome. Mavericks improved it A LOT, but it still has its moments.
Before Mav it just ate RAM like crazy. Also if one tab crashed, then all of them needed to be reloaded. I haven't had major problems since the upgrade, but it's hard to shake the feeling that something bad could happen at any moment.
Tab management is just ghastly. This is what I miss most from Chrome.
The ability to pin tabs is massive, and Safari - by not allowing pinned tabs and keeping favicons out of tabs - makes it hard to remember what is open and where. Second class extensions. Extensions tend to go to Chrome first and Safari second - if ever. That said, I love. Second class website support. Some websites just do not work as well in Safari. Facebook for example has a photo feature that only works in Chrome and Firefox, and they've ignored Safari for years.

The built-in status bar at the bottom is really ugly compared to Chrome's. I've installed though to replace it. The built in Google search behaves very strangely. It's very hard to just get the web address of something you've searched for.
And back commands sometimes don't work properly. I WANT to stay with Safari. I'm basically happy. If they added Tab pinning, then I'd basically never question it, but that's a big turn off right now. Likewise if Google added double tap to zoom, then I might switch over and just install Chrome on iOS. As it is, I'm an uneasy Safari user.
